Marriage Licenses

Any person who wishes to be married, can apply for a marriage license in the Town Clerk’s office.

Validity & Expiration

The marriage license is valid 24 hours after issuance, but must be used within two months.


There is a $40 fee. Credit cards and out-of-state checks are not accepted.

Applicant Requirements

  • The applicant must be 18 years or older.
  • If younger than 18, applicant must be accompanied by both parents.

Required Documents

Each applicant must bring:
  • A completed Marriage License Application (PDF)
  • A certified copy of their birth certificate if not in English, a certified translation must be provided)
  • Driver’s license or government picture identification
  • Social Security Number

Prior Marriages

If there were any prior marriages, a certified document must show that the marriage no longer exists, such as divorce papers, state annulment papers or death certificates. One document must be supplied for each prior marriage.
