The Town Board of the Town of Southeast has formed the Open Space Advisory Committee to assist the Town create and implement strategies which will protect undeveloped parcels of land (“Open Space”).  Consistent with the Town’s 2002 Croton Plan, 2003 Master Plan as well as legislation which implemented the recommendations in both plans, protecting and preserving Open Space is a critical component of protecting the rural heritage of the Town of Southeast.

Mission:
·       Inventory all remaining Open Space in the Town of Southeast;
·       Create a criteria or “scoring system” for rating and ranking parcels for preservation;
·       Assist in the preparation and implementation of a survey on the issue of Open Space;
·       Develop and communicate strategies to the Town Board for preserving and funding Open Space programs, including but not limited to environmental easements and outright purchase of land.  Activities will include the active pursuit of grant applications, and with the Town Board’s concurrence, partnering with other preservation entities;


Committee Structure:
·       7 members; 1- year terms, set at annual Organizational Meeting.
·       One Town Board liaison; Councilman Richard B. Honeck.
·       Advisors on ad hoc basis.
