Town of Southeast - Recreation Committee

In January 2007, the Town Board formed the advisory Recreation Committee. The committee is comprised of seven residents and represents a cross section of the Town's residents. The Recreation Committee was formed in response to the filing of a petition signed by approximately 500 residents requesting that the Town construct a Recreation Center and a survey of Southeast seniors which demonstrated their support for a Town Senior Center. The Recreation Committee is currently working to determine the feasibility of constructing a Town Recreation/Senior center. The Committee will be sending out a Town wide survey in April to gather resident input regarding such a center. The Committee is currently engaged in visiting recreation and senior centers in other municipalities, exploring grant opportunities and other financing avenues.
