Ragamuffin Parade

Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 1pm

(Rain date is Sunday, October 26, 2000 at 2pm)

Participants will assemble in the "Gold Parking Lot" located in the Village of Brewster and march to Markel Park.

Prizes will be awarded to boys and girls from infants to sixth grade who reside in the Town of Southeast only. A grand prize will be awarded to the best overall costume as well as a prize for the best costume worn by an adult.

Treats will be handed out to all children who march in the parade and refreshments will be served to all!

Southeast Recreation's Snowman Contest

Have your family build a snowman anytime this winter, take picture of the snowman and its builders and mail the picture to the Recreation Office, 140 Pumphouse Road, Brewster, NY 10509. Mail or drop off by March 25th 2004. Please make sure your name, address and telephone number are on the back of the photo.

Categories are: Typical Snowman and Any Variety

A $50 Savings Bond prize will be awarded in each category.

Holiday House Decorating Contest

A first and second place prize will be awarded to contestants with the most beautiful and tasteful homes. Judging will take place on Monday evening, December 15, 2003.

Pre-School Programs

Mom & Tots

Children ages newborn to 3 years

Get together with stay home moms and children to socialize. This is a co-op program, so all must help out. Story time, play time and craft time. Coffee and cake for adults; snacks for the kids.

Where: Lakeview Manor Building, 215 Shore Drive

When: Tuesdays – October 14, 21, 28, November 4, 18, 25, December 2, 9, 16, January 6, 13, 20, 27

Time: 9:30AM to 11:00AM

Fee: $65.00 – 13 weeks

Exploring Colors with Tots

Jump on board with your toddler and explore their first art masterpieces together. This course will consist of six mini projects and one final project. The class materials will consist of: glue, paint, markers, crayons and various papers. This course includes all materials. Ages 3 – 5.

When: Thursdays – October 16, 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20

Time: 1:00PM – 1:45PM

Pre-Ballet, Tap and Creative Movement

We believe that children should have fun while learning to dance.

We use age appropriate music and educational concepts as well as fun props in class.

After School and Youth Programs

Arts & Crafts

This 6 week program is designed for girls and boys to explore their imagination and creativy through the use of various materials and art techniques. Each week we will create a different, exciting project to bring home.

Wire Arts Class

Hand on fun! Create six mini card and card holder projects and a final project. Your child will learn the history of various metals and card exchange. Materials used will be: metal wire, hangers, clothes pins, paints, markers, glue, beads and ribbons. Price includes materials. A list will be given for house materials to be brought in by student following registration.

Dance Aerobics

Your child dances to routines that are easily learned and makes exercises fun! This will help with their performances in other sports. It can be a great start for the first-time dance student.

Southeast Sensations – Twirling

We meet every Wednesday at the Henry H. Wells Middle School gym September 17th through June. Our program includes a lesson each week, parades, competitions and recital.

Fee: $200/year.  $100 due at registration, balance by December 1. 10% discount per sibling.

Jacket $35; Baton $20; Costume $90. We will be establishing a new policy with regard to sale of used costumes. Please inquire at registration.

If you are thinking of this program, please make a firm commitment to continue throughout the year. Each group needs full participation to succeed.

Introduction to Babysitting

This four hour course is designed to introduce youngsters ten and older to the basics of babysitting. Topics include the responsibility of the babysitter, of the parents of the children who they are babysitting for, emergencies and safety, playing and diapering, feeding and holding an infant. All will receive a certificate at the end of the course. Hand-outs will be provided. Please bring a snack!

Skiing and Snowboarding at Thunder Ridge

Sponsored by the Town of Southeast Recreation Department

When: Tuesday evenings, 5-10PM starting January 6, 2004

Rate:

Six 1 ½ hour lessons 7 – 8:30PM/ Ages 8+ $76.00

Lift Fees – adults and children per night  $12.00

Rentals – adult and child, ski equip per night $12.00

Rentals – snow boarding per night  $22.00

$350 credit card deposit needed for snow board rentals.

All participants must purchase a lift ticket. Not included in lesson fee.

Registration fees:

Resident: $10 individual; $15 family

Non-resident: $15 individual; $20 family
